ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКИ КЕРАМИКИ ZR ULTROPALINE
- ZR Ultropaline meets the basic requirements of modern all-ceramic denture materials. This is illustrated by its key characteristics.
-
The optical, thermal and mechanical properties are largely determined by the phase composition and structure of ceramic materials.
-
The main phase components of ZR Ultropaline are a glass matrix with leucite microcrystals distributed in it. In ZR Ultropaline ceramics, micron-sized microcrystals are distributed fairly homogeneously over the volume of the material. This ensures that ZR Ultropaline is sufficiently transparent and highly durable.
-
ZR Ultropaline achieves an optimum combination of transparent, translucent and diffuse components. This combination makes the optical properties (light refraction and reflection) of ZR Ultropaline similar to those of natural dentine and enamel.
THE BENDING STRENGTH
-
The bending strength on the three-point measurement is 90 MPa, compared with ISO_9693_2019 standard of 50 MPa.
The high strength of ZR Ultropaline metal-ceramic allows it to be used for durable dentures with a sufficiently thin covering layer, guarantees the durability and high reliability of the product.
THE THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENT (TEC)
The thermal expansion coefficient of ZR Ultropaline is 9,6-9,8*10-6 К-1, which is also determined by the phase structure of the material. This value is slightly lower than the TEC of the zirconium dioxide substructure of 10.6*0-6 К-1, which strengthens the facing ceramic due to the compressive stresses that occur when the piece cools after sintering. The same stresses increase the bond between the ceramic and the carcass. The TEC of the ZR Ultropaline is fairly stable. After six firing cycles, it is only reduced by 0.2*0-6 К-1.
As mentioned above, the lower CTR of the veneer ceramic compared to the CTR of the framework results in compressive stresses being created in the direction parallel to the ceramic/carcass interface. At the same time, tensile stresses arise in the perpendicular direction. These stresses increase as the ceramic thickens, which reduces the strength of the ceramic and thus limits the maximum thickness of the veneer material.
ADHESION TO ZIRCONIUM DIOXIDE CARCASS
- This characteristic is determined according to the Schwickerath three-point bending method of ISO_9693_2019. The adhesion of ZR Ultropaline ceramics is 27±2 MPa with a standard value of 20 MPa.
COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
- According to the standard ISO_9693_2019, ceramic masses for zirconia carcass veneering are controlled according to 2 main characteristics: the three-point bending strength (50 MPa standard) and the adhesion to the zirconium dioxide carcass (20 MPa standard). The weight of the ZR Ultropaline meets these requirements by a large margin, as is evident from the above data.

*the specified chamber opening temperature is recommended for the last scheduled baking of the ceramics. The low thermal conductivity of the zirconium dioxide carcass and ceramic veneer can lead to considerable residual stresses in the overall denture. Therefore, in order to reduce such thermal stresses in the ceramic material, especially in the case of extended restorations, slow cooling should be applied during the last firing.
